{showered}

Yesterday was my baby shower and what a lovely, fabulous and overwhelming day it was. We had about 20 or so people packed into the house, and so much fun and love was in the air. The best part of the day was that my Grandparents were able to come from Kentucky. With my Grandaddy being so ill the past few months it was so wonderful to see them. He looked so good too. :) One big bummer was that my sister had the flu and couldn't come, so we were both pretty sad about that.
The boys received so many wonderful gifts, including lots of outfits, their stroller, activity mat, and some sweet handmade blankets. My Mom and mother-in-law did such a great job arranging everything and the food was great. I especially loved the cupcakes with two green jelly beans to represent my two little peas. :) Here are some pics from the day...

Just in time for the shower, Dan got both of the cribs put together and the bedding all in place (still have to wash it). I'm so in love with everything...it is coming together exactly as I pictured. :)

It looks like I'm going to be able to start taking my maternity leave very soon, which I'm so relieved about. I've been very sore lately and getting around is getting a lot harder. It will be nice when I don't have to get up early during the week, get dressed up and go to work. I'll be 30 weeks on Tuesday!!

{nursery progress}

It has been painting mania at our house the past week or so. Dan has been busy finishing up our stairway and painting the trim and walls in the nursery. Thank goodness for his mom's help...between the two of them they have gotten a lot done. The nursery just needs a little more trim paint and some wall touch ups and it will be done! The wall color is "tree branch" from Sherwin Williams if anyone is interested. It is such a warm color, and I can't wait to see the white furniture against it.

The stairs are finally completely painted, which was a project I intended on finishing myself months ago. Life just gets in the way sometimes. I love how it brightens up the hallway.

I'm 29 weeks today! It all still seems so surreal, and I guess it will until I actually have two baby boys in my arms. I just can't wait until that moment, so I can know what that love everyone talks about really feels like. I ordered the carseats today, so add that to the cribs, mattresses and bedding we already have and we're on our way!

{eventful)

Today has been quite eventful. I had my first ever pedicure and oh my goodness was it relaxing. I hardly even cared that she painted my toenails after the bubbly soak in hot water, exfoliation, massage with yummy scented lotion and the hot towels on my legs. I'm definitely going to have to treat myself to one of these more often, especially once the boys arrive.

I also got my new glasses today and I love them! I have been wanting to try a darker frame but was just to scared to venture away from my tried and true silver inconspicious frames. I'm so glad I did though...I think they really bring out my eyes. :) (please ignore how tired I look...I took this after the pedicure LOL :)

Another exciting event today is that the hubby and my mother-in-law started painting the nursery! The got a lot done...most of the trim is now white and the walls are a warm shade of brown (tree branch by Sherwin Williams)

The owl decal I bought on etsy (in white) is going to look soo cute against the brown walls. :)

Oh...and we got the rocker for the nursery! We both love it...we're keeping it in the living room for now until the nursery is done. It matches our living room furniture perfectly which is a nice bonus. Down the road when the boys don't need to be rocked anymore we can just move it back into the living room. :)

We don't have any big plans for Easter. I think we'll be going over to my mother-in-law's house for a meal, but that's about it. Fine with me since my energy level is so low these days. I need to save up all my energy for my baby shower next Saturday! Hope everyone has a wonderful day tomorrow!

{28 weeks}

Wow...time is really flying by! I can't believe that the 30 week mark is so close! I don't know whether to be excited or totally freaked out! LOL :) I think I'll be both for now...

My shower is on the 29th and I'm really excited about that. A few of my high school friends that I haven't seen in awhile are coming and most importantly my grandparents are hopefully going to be there, which will be so wonderful. I know I will be a teary mess that day with so much love around me. I could cry just thinking about it! LOL :)

I had a photoshoot with a local photographer and got the proofs from him yesterday. They are regular film and really small, so the scans didn't turn out so hot. Here are a couple of my favorites...I can't wait to see them in actual prints.

Happy hump day!! :)

Last night we bought a rocking chair for the nursery!! :) I'm so excited about it. I wish I had a picture to share, but that will have to wait until we pick it up from the store. It is upholstered in a chocolate brown microfiber-ish fabric and has such a smooth rocking motion. I can't wait to rock my babies in it! It was such a great deal too...$300 marked down from $1200!! The thing I like best about it is that it doesn't look like a nursery rocker, so it will fit in with our other furniture down the road.

That wasn't enough retail therapy for me, so I just bought some scrapbooking paper. I saw the new designs from Sassafras Lass and had to have them! So gorgeous!! Here are a few of the ones I purchased...

I also picked up this Making Memories spiral journaling notebook :)

I'm meeting my mom in a few minutes to have lunch at Red Lobster...I can already taste the cheddar biscuits...mmmmm :)

Hope everyone is having a good Friday...I for one am sooo ready for the weekend!

{27 weeks}

Hubby took this pic last night. Mom and Dad were over so they joined me. :)

{roll with it}

If I've learned anything in the past 7 months or so, it has been to roll with the punches and expect the unexpected. I'm the kind of person who likes to know what is going to happen, who likes to plan out her life and make sure things go exactly according to my plans. That whole concept has been thrown out the window. On a superficial level our kitchen remodel was a good example of that. Nothing went according to plan, but in the end, we still came away with the kitchen we had envisioned and quite a story to share with anyone who would listen.

Obviously being pregnant is a new set of experiences on almost a daily basis. Our first hill on the rollercoaster was finding out we were having twins. So exciting, but so scary at the same time. One of the hardest things for me has been all of the changes my body is going through. Not knowing how big my belly is going to get, expecting every day to look in the mirror and see stretch marks or something else I don't want to discover, not knowing what to wear half the time because even my maternity stuff is getting too small. And now that I'm getting close to 7 months along, the reality is setting in that we are going to have two baby boys to take care of and all of the responsibility that goes alone with being parents.

I'm grateful for this experience because it has helped me grow and step outside of my comfort zone. I'm OK with wearing the same three outfits to work each week and I'm OK with letting Dan take over some of the household chores that for some stupid reason I thought no one could do but me. I'm even OK with the limitations the pregnancy has put on my ability to do everyday things going out of town to spend the whole day shopping at the mall. I just can't do those things right now and while it can be frustrating I wouldn't change it. Being pregnant makes you grateful for the smallest things in life, like a husband who will help you put on your socks and shoes and give you the extra shove you need to get out of the car.

My parents came over last night and they both finally got to feel the babies kick. The looks on their faces were priceless. That's what this whole journey is all about...family and the love that we share with each other. I can't begin to imagine the amount of love that I'm going to feel for these two boys. I can't wait for the day they arrive so Dan and I can finally experience it.

{my toes will have to wait}

I had to cancel my pedicure today because of this-->

So sad. I've never had one before so I was sooo excited. Hopefully I can reschedule it for next weekend. I can't quite reach my toes anymore so they could use some attention. Who knows how much snow we'll have by the end of this...Melvin and Chloe are enjoying it though. :)
Yesterday before the snow got too bad I was able to pick up the crib bedding from Walmart. I absolutely loooove it!!

And the shade is a perfect fit for the Urban Outfitters owl lamp. :)

The benefit of snow days is that I get things done around the house. I hung my newest ebay purchase, a vintage toleware tray, in the kitchen last night. The colors go perfectly with my other accessories.

Not sure what I'll accomplish today, but we definitely won't be going out anywhere. We were supposed to get together with family that were coming in from Chicago, but I have a feeling they probably stayed home. Hope it is warmer and sunnier where you are today!

{creative release}

I finally did some scrapbooking last night and it felt sooo good. :) I still have a ton of pages that I want to do, but it was a start. It was a relief that the ideas came to me quickly...I was afraid after a few months off that I wouldn't have any inspiration. Of course beautiful papers and embellishments are pretty inspirational all on their own. I love the picture of my parents when we told them we were pregnant...the looks on their faces are priceless. :)

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed today with our to do list before the babies arrive. Actually, I have a to do list in my head before our shower, since it is going to be at our house. It is on the 29th of this month, so I'm starting to feel panicked. I need to just make a list, share it with the hubby, and figure out a battle plan. I know the house won't be perfect, but there are certain things that really need to be finished before we have 20 or so guests over.

Speaking of the shower, I'm trying to figure out what to wear. It is hard to tell what the weather will be like, but since I won't have to go outside I'm determined to wear something springy. I really like this shirt from Old Navy...

I would pair it with my denim pencil skirt and flats of some sort. People don't get super dressed up around here for showers, and I really want to be comfortable. What color jewelry? I'm thinking white accessories would look cute, or a complementary shade of green.

Oh...can't believe I forgot to mention this! We finally ordered the cribs and bedding this past weekend!! Now it is starting to feel very real! Here is the crib we chose...

I'm so excited to start getting the nursery together! Hopefully my owl lamp and cute pillow from Urban Outfitters will arrive this week. :)

{welcome spring!}

March 1st! Ahhh....the thought that spring is right around the corner puts me in *such* a good mood. I got up this morning, had a bowl of cereal, and went right into putting out my Easter decorations. I've been told our house is Easter colors, so this is the season that matches our decor best. :) I made this wreath a few years ago, but added the eggs this year...
My Mom gave me a bunch of great vintage looking Easter bunnies...I think this one is my favorite...

Mom also gave me my Easter tree and decorations. What would I do without her? :)

I also finished a small project this morning that I have been wanting to do for awhile. Personalized glass jars for our coffee (I'm decaf and hubby is regular)...

After finishing these projects, I made a Starbucks run for a vanilla latte, then worked on my topiaries for the porch. I made them last year, but the hubby accidentally knocked them over this winter and broke two of the pots. I bought new pots at Hobby Lobby and got them reassembled. This is what they looked like last year...

Now the pots are plain terra cotta because I don't have the energy to faux finish them again. I still think they look pretty darn cute. :)
Other weekend projects...
Make a Goodwill run
Buy our microwave for over the stove
Go shopping for some new glasses frames...I'm thinking of some brown ones for a change
Clean the downstairs hardwood floors
Do some scrapbooking
Hope everyone is having a great weekend! It is supposed to be 50 degrees here today! WooHoo!!
