I used an air-drying dough/clay from Hobby Lobby and rolled it out with a rolling pin. The hard part was getting squirmy baby hands to be still long enough to imprint them into the clay, but they were actually really good for me. After doing their handprints, I used letter stamps to put their initials inside the palms. The lid to the clay container was a great template to make them a nice circle shape, and a straw was the perfect hole-maker for a ribbon or ornament hook. Once they have dried I'm going to paint them and glaze them. I can't wait to hang them on the tree!
OH COOL! I think this is such a great idea, MB! I have one of those plaster handprint kits that we haven't even opened yet. I wonder if that would work the same? :hm
ReplyDeleteI may steal this idea, it's so great!
Do it Beth!!! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a GREAT idea!!! I'm actually thinking about doing this with our dog's print for my hubby. We are dealing with the sadness of sending him to be in doggie heaven and I thought about doing this as something special to remember him by. You will have these ornaments for years to come, Mandy!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed Christmas season with Dan and your amazing boys :)

ReplyDeleteOh Diane...I'm so sorry to hear about your dog! I hope that you can make something special to remember him. {{HUGS}}
ReplyDeleteSo cute!
ReplyDeleteAh, cute idea. Another one for when they get older is stepping stones for a garden or walk-way. You can buy those kits too. I love all the new pictures. So cute. The boys are getting so big.
ReplyDeleteHi Mandy,
ReplyDeleteWow. I found you via Jannypie and can't believe your a mother of twins. I remember you from long ago on the D&R board when we were decorating our homes. You were always one of my faves. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you how adorable these handprints are. I'll be making these for sure.
I'll have to stop in from time to time to see what you're up to. It was so nice to find your blog, like catching up with an old friend (who I've never met)
Happy New Year,
Stacy

ReplyDeleteHow exciting our lives have been the last few years
Congrats on the gorgeous twins
