{make your own phone cover}

I'm one of those people that has an Android phone, and I actually like it. :)

But is had made for a frustrating time finding a cute cover, especially on a tight budget. You can find TONS of fun iPhone covers on Etsy and other sites, but when I did a search for one on Etsy, all I found was A LOT of bling...

source

Not that there is anything wrong with bling. It just isn't my thing. ;)

So I decided to make my own DIY case...

It is a super simple project.

All you need is some fun patterned paper, scissors, pencil, x-acto knife, and a clear phone case.

I found mine on Amazon here.

I traced the phone case onto my paper and cut out the main shape with my scissors. Then I used the x-acto knife for the inside details. This was a bit tricky because my phone has so many different features on the back.

I ended up with two inserts for my clear case...

And here is how they look on my phone...

Can you tell I'm a nature lover? ;)

I love how easy this project was, and how simple and inexpensive it will be to change it. I also want to try one with washi tape...wouldn't that be fun?

Have you made a DIY case for your phone? If you did, what pattern would you use?

{Instagram Friday}

Happy Friday friends! Goodness I'm ready for the weekend, how about you?

It has been a few weeks since I participate in Insta-Friday over at Life Rearranged....

life rearranged

It has been a bit of a fall love fest over on my Instagram this past week...

An orchard trip, lots of fall leaf gazing, a pumpkin pinterest project {that was a total FAIL, but the supplies looked cute!} and a yummy cider scented candle in my office.

Why can't this time of year last longer? It is heaven to me.

What has your past week looked like?

You can get a peek into the rest of my week by following me on Instagram here

{to the orchard}

We took a quick trip to the orchard on Sunday....

You can't tell from these photos but it was super windy, and not too long after we got there it started raining sideways.

Not what you want on an orchard trip.

I'm hoping we can go back again soon for a do-over and enjoy some wind and rain free pumpkin picking, apple cider slush sipping and caramel apple eating!

{family room update}

A few weeks ago I shared with you the awesome vintage chair my mother-in-law found for me at a local consignment shop. It was a great addition to our family room, and created a cozy little sitting/reading nook in what was an empty space before. I had plans to do a gallery wall of sorts above the chair and as usual I didn't stick to my original plan. But I love how it turned out.

Wanna see? :)

I shopped the house for everything...a mix of family photos, a fun green frame, DIY photo canvas and a vintage drying rack. I added a yarn and pinecone garland for a touch of fall...

On the tray, I added two flameless candles, a fun clock from Target and some good fall reading...

I love how the space came together...it is a perfect mix of vintage, comfy and modern...

I am still so giddy over this chair...such an amazing find.

And speaking of amazing finds...if you follow me on FB or Instagram you saw the great midcentury desk I scored for $15...yes...$15!

It still needs some accessorizing so it isn't quite blog-worthy yet, but I just had to show you! And seriously...$15!!!

Do you have any thrifted finds in your home that make your heart skip a beat?
