After our little Amish market excursion yesterday, and while the boys slept off their rock candy, I recovered one of our dining room chair seats.
And.I.Love.It.
Isn't it a happy fabric?
Here is a quick run down of the process {after the major de-stapling adventure}. I started with my 1/2 inch foam that I purchased at JoAnn Fabric. It was $9.99/yard and I needed two yards for this project. My handy 40% off coupon brought the total to just $12.
I laid the seat down on the foam and used a marker to outline it...then cut it out with regular scissors.
I then cut my piece of {happy} fabric, leaving a few inches all around to ensure there was enough to wrap around the seat.
And I started stapling.
I first stapled once on each side, being sure to pull it tight as I went along. This is a tip I remember learning from Hildy and Trading Spaces. Does anyone else remember how crazy she was with a staple gun?
Once each side was secured I went around and finished it off, making sure I left the screw holes uncovered so I wouldn't have trouble re-attaching it to the chair base later.
And the finished product!
The chair frames do still need to be refinished but I couldn't wait to try out the new fabric.
Have you been up to any DIY projects lately? I would love to see them!

ReplyDeleteI miss trading spaces and Hildy was crazy. Remember when she stapled on the flowers on the walls in that bathroom. Wonder what happened to her???
