{she scores!}

This past weekend was a huge yard sale extravaganza in our town. Actually, there were yard sales on US 40 from Baltimore to St. Louis...the world's largest yard sale to be exact. Crazy, huh?

My mother-in-law and I decided to brave some of the sales that were going on near her neighborhood, and I'm so glad we did. Not only was it a gorgeous morning, but I scored two amazing finds, and only spent $4 total.

My first find came in at a whopping $1 and will make a huge impact in our dining room as a chandelier...

Awesome drum shade, right? I love the grass cloth texture and it is in perfect condition. I'm hoping we can either use a cord kit with it, or eventually hard wire it over our dining table.

My remaining $3 was spent on a very cool set of vintage melamine dinnerware in a great shade of yellow...

I love that they are toddler friendly, and that they will bring out the yellow in our dining room chair fabric...once I tackle the rest of those staples.

After scoring these deals I definitely see more yard sale-ing on my Saturdays this summer!

Have you scored anything on your thrifting/yard sale-ing adventures lately? I would love to hear about it!

  1. Oh yard sales!!! When we were in New England last year I remember driving past so many. I felt bad about getting my husband to stop all the time, so I don't think we actually checked any out! Ah, well. Well done for braving the crowds!

  10. Hello and what a lovely find. We do not have yard sales here in the Uk but after reading all about yours I think perhaps its time I started the trend but as we have a lot of rain in the North West it may get a bit soggy.
    Nice meeting you via her librarys adventures.
    Take care, keep safe, be happy

    I don' t yardsale often (maybe twice a year), but I love local consignment shops and Foster's in the depot district. Foster's has some amazing finds.
