{lovely}

Boden is yet another reason why I'm in love with British culture.

They've cornered the market on cozy living spaces, which I discovered in this lovely magazine my friend Allison sent me.

Are they kidding with these gorgeous pieces? Someone hand me a napkin because I'm drooling...

This skirt is the perfect mix of fall cozy and whimsy.

I'm actually thinking I could DIY this necklace...what do you think?

Such a ladylike coat in a great shade of green.

They even have a super fun outfit maker so you can "try on" their pieces before buying. Genius.

This is my idea of a perfect fall outfit...

That necklace owns me.

What are you drooling over this fall in the wardrobe department? I would love to see what's on your wish list!

{love list}

Happy Tuesday friends! Here are some things that are making me feel all giddy today...

1. Fall decorations on my dining room table (and great fall reads as well!)

photo

I'm in full on fall mood now and nothing makes me happier than some pumpkins and acorns, even if they are faux. I'm ready for a trip to the orchard for some real pumpkins and apple butter!

2. These slippers from Target...

Our floor temperature has been knocked down quite a few notches in the past week so I'm in desperate need for something cozy for my feet!

3. And these boots...

These lovelies have been on my "it" list for over a year now and they are back in stock!! Hoping they can come home with me very soon.

4. This lovely home...

So bright and airy with the perfect mix of vintage and modern.

5. Getting rid of clutter!

We had a garage sale this past Saturday and I'm hauling it all out again this Saturday. It feels sooo good to get rid of the things we no longer need and make a little extra cash. Whatever doesn't find a new home after this weekend's sale is either going on Craigslist, ebay, or Goodwill! (if you are in the Richmond, Indiana area, come on by and get some bargains!)

6. Acorns

We have tons of acorns in our yard right now and of course any squirrel lover also loves acorns. It is amazing to me how they are so many different colors. Some are bright shades of green while some are dark coffee brown. The boys love to collect them. Ben calls the tops "hats" - how cute is that?! I've collected quite a few for a future fall decor project.

What is on your love list today?

{well hello there, officer}

I have tried really hard to not use the mommy brain card lately. But I had to pull it out today to avoid a case of serious embarrassment.

The scene started as I was leaving the McDonald's drive through for a much desired (but certainly not needed) large Coke.

Pulling out, I noticed a cop car was behind me. I made sure my hand were at 10 and 2, turn signal was on, and went back to waiting for the light to turn green.

The light turns green and I make a perfect left turn (thank you very much officer). Right after we both make it round the turn, on go his lights. I pull over, thinking he is, of course, going to go right past me.

Nope.

He is pulling me over. Perfect 10 and 2, turn signal using, supermom of twins.

Surely he was mistaken.

My mind starts racing trying to figure out what I did wrong (other than purchase that 16 ounce cup of tasty sugar and empty calories).

My second thought was, "I reallllly hope the registration is in the glove box."

He comes to my window and asks for my license and registration.

First I fumble trying to wrangle my license out from its little plastic protective sleeve in my wallet. Don't you HATE those?!

Then, I reach in the glove box, praying the registration is there. I usually let the hubs worry about these things.

And then I see it! Relief....followed by noticing the green sticker with the numbers "11" on it, still attached to the form.

Mr. Policeman notices too.

"That's what you're missing!"he says.

I immediately pointed to the two carseats in the back and made some reference to having two toddlers and not knowing if I'm coming or going etc...

I think he bought it.

He even asked for a napkin to wipe the dirt off the license plate before he attached the wayward sticker.

My hero.

{Ahhhhhhhh}

Fall is here in Indiana! The weather today is absolutely perfect for a sweater and boots, which is my favorite fall outfit.

Now humor me a little.

I was so excited to pull out my boots this morning that I took a photo of my outfit.

A few disclaimers:

I took this as I was heading out the door to work
.
I'm a mom of twin boys, remember?
My impromptu tripod was our window ledge, hence the decapitation of my feet.
I couldn't be bothered with moving toys out of the way. (see #2)

So here's my outfit today...

photo

And just so I look official like the true wardrobe girls (Jessica, The ladies of Academichic, etc...) here is the breakdown of my outfit:

Long sleeved T - Target
Sweater - JC Penney
Skirt - Walmart (which apparently I needed to straighten just a tad)
Boots - I honestly can't remember where I bought them, but they are Aerosoles. These suckers are going on their 5th or 6th year for me and I still love them.
Necklace - Forever 21

Now I just need a vanilla latte in my hand and it would be the perfect autumn morning.

What is your favorite Fall outfit friends?

{cozy}

New in the shop...

You can't get cozier than this acorn cap and mitten set.

And how adorable is this little guy modeling one of my pom pom acorn caps?! Thanks so much to my friend Ann of Through the Looking Glass Photography for the photo!

You can get one for your little guy or girl here.

Remember, fall is here friends!

{love list}

Time for this week's list of things that are putting a big smile on my face...

1. These headbands...

How adorable are these?! I would like to think I could get away with wearing one.

2. This dresser from IKEA...

MANDAL 6-drawer dresser white Width: 54 3/4 " Depth: 18 7/8 " Height: 31 1/8 "  Width: 139 cm Depth: 48 cm Height: 79 cm

We are hopefully going to be able to work on the boys' big boy room soon and this is my dream piece for their new shared space.

3. This inspiring little girl...

She seriously brought tears to my eyes. If only we could all think like Sadie.

4. My little drummer boys...

Thanks to their Auntie and GiGi for the fun drum (and for keeping it at their house! LOL)

5. These inspiring home images...

Brooke's home is such a great mix of vintage and modern. Love.

What are you loving this week friends?

{I DIY}

So in between advancing the world of Quakerism (part of my job, people), cleaning toddler noses, and saving the world (moms ARE superheros, right?!) ...

I also like a good DIY project.

I've been collecting ideas for jewelry storage from all over blog-world and have been itching to create something for our bathroom to hold my earrings, necklaces and rings. I was especially inspired by this one from Nishka's Niche's Etsy shop...

And this one from Smart and Sassy with Sprinkles (what a fun blog name!)

I have most of my jewelry stored in our laundry room (don't ask...it works for me, OK?) but I like to keep the pieces I wear the most in the bathroom so I can grab them when I'm getting ready in the morning. My previous system was a little milkglass cup on the bathroom counterfor my rings and earrings, and on occasion our hand towel hook for my necklaces.

It was just a tad dysfunctional.

So enter some creative thinking and this lovely mirror that had never found a new home since we moved into this house...

photo

I first removed the mirror and the hooks. Spray painted the frame white and the hooks with an oil rubbed bronze finish spray paint. Then, I used some brown jewelry wire from Hobby Lobby and staple-gunned (that's a verb, right?) it to the back to create rows for my earrings.

And....voila!

photo

Isn't she gorgeous?

I love how I can see almost all of my earrings now and I'm wearing ones that I didn't typically wear before because they were buried underneath my old standbys.

The hooks work perfectly for my rings and necklaces.

photo

The only thing it lacks is somewhere for my stud earrings. So Mr. Milkglass is still on the counter for now. But even those are easier to see since they aren't tangled up with all of my dangly ones.

And I think it really perks up the corner of the bathroom.

photo

What do you think?

It was a super easy project, and only cost the $1.25 or so for the jewelry wire. (I already had the spray paint from other projects).

Do you have a recent DIY project that you are proud of? I would love to see it!

{over}

You name it, I'm over it.

Over work.
Over my allergies.
Over emails...and more emails...
Over the million plus thoughts swimming around in my mind that all want center stage.

I'm majorly overwhelmed.

This pic of Ben when he was just a little guy pretty much sums up how I feel today...

photo

Or this one of Landon...

photo

Or maybe this one (a face only a mother could love)...

photo

Work this week has gotten crazy busy. I work in higher education so late August is when things go from 0 to 60 in a matter of days.

Or minutes.

At least that is what it has felt like this year.

But on a much happier note, the weather here the past few days has been absolutely GORGEOUS and I'm hoping it will hold up for the weekend so we can get outside as a family to enjoy it.

It is starting to feel like Fall and that makes me SUPER (yes, I'm really, really) happy. I think I would actually use the word giddy.

Fall is like everything that is good about life bottled up into a season.

I have a love affair with fall.

If I could marry it I would.

But back to reality...

We are taking a little road trip on Sunday for a family event and we'll be in the car for 6 or so hours. Thank goodness for the coworker who is letting us borrow her TWO screen DVD player for the car.

I don't care if I have to listen to Toy Story, Caillou, Word World, Sid the Science Kid etc....for 360 minutes...it will be worth it.

And 6 or so hours of time to look at magazines...knit...stare out the window and do absolutely nothing...

Ahhhhhh...

photo

photo

(This post was really just an excuse to pull out my favorite funny pics of the boys as babies)

Until next time...over and out. :)

{swoon}

My lovely friend, and talented photographer, Kelly, purchased one of my knitted cocoons for her infant photoshoots and a few days ago she shared this picture on her blog...

Ahhhhhh....I was smiling for hours!

It is the definition of cozy, right?
