{safe}

I'm tired of playing it safe.

I'm not getting anywhere being afraid of trying new things.

of branching out...

I need to laugh at myself more.

I need to use more color.

This photos of my newly married (!!!) friend Laura and her husband Chad is inspiring me today.

In my clothing...

my home...

my life.

Color isn't just about what we see. Its also about how we feel.

Colorful moments are happy, joyful, emotion-filled.

My boys are helping me to break free from my safe ways. They show me a life free of the fears that have plagued me for so long. I know that God gave them to me so I could become a better person. One that takes chances with her heart. One that fills her life with colorful moments.

We took the boys to the park playground over the weekend, and I went down the slides with them, and walked across the platforms.

Heights aren't my friend.

But somehow holding Ben's hand took away all of my fear. And those slides are such fun colors.

What freeing moments those were.

And as soon as I get some free minutes, I'm painting my piano bench in the dining room.

Turquoise.

That should be a good start...

{threes}

You know the saying, "they come in threes?"

I know, it is usually related to sad events, but for me it has been true for our dining room furniture hunt. You already know about our first two Craigslist finds that have gotten us well on our way to a midcentury modern space.

And here is #3...

An entire dining set for $100. You heard me right folks. $100! Seriously?!

The chairs are what have me drooling. The design of the back is perfectly midcentury. And I can just picture the seats upholstered with a fun fabric like one of these...

I'm especially in love with this faux bois print from Joel Dewberry:

And while we don't NEED the table, it is pretty amazing, and if it was as gorgeous in person it would cause quite a delimma for me, as I'm strongly attached to our current table, an heirloom from my Dad's parents. (you can see it in my last post)

And we really do need two more chairs, but I love the look of two different styles of chair so we could find two for the ends of the table to complement them.

It may be time for another road trip courtesy of Craigslist!

{Where's Big Boy?}

You all know there wildly popular "Where's Waldo" book series, right?

Well, my good friend Beth pointed out that lately, pictures from my house have been like a newer version, that we like to call "Where's Big Boy?"

Can you find him?

He is helping me figure out how to decorate the dining room here... (yes, I know BB, we desperately need a rug...)

This one is a rare appearance of Big Boy AND his evil twin...

Big Boy is always watching... (and you thought it was big brother, didn't you? :)
