{Fun Finds from the JBF Consignment Sale}

This past Friday night I got the chance to attend the preview night of the Just Between Friends consignment sale again here in Richmond. I went this past spring and found some great clothing, shoes and books for the boys. If you haven't heard of JBF before, it is a huge consignment sale with loads of toys, clothing, books, maternity, furniture and other miscellaneous children's items.

When we walked in, I was excited to see a few racks of Halloween costumes...

Especilally this awesome Ninja Turtle for $7...

But neither of the boys want to be a turtle. Crazy, right? ;)

Here is a view of just some of the clothing selection...

SO many clothes! The selection was a lot larger for the smaller sizes, which was probably a good thing for my checkbook, but I did snag a few really cute things for the boys, like this Carter's winter vest...

A plaid flannel button down and cute long sleeve tee...

And a great pair of fleece lined cargo pants...

I also grabbed a few packs of books which were all in brand new condition. I love when I find Dr. Seuss books especially...

{thrifting score}

The thrifting Gods were most definitely shining down on me this weekend.

That, and my awesome Mother-in-Law, who discovered this treasure for me.

Say hello to my new chair...

Isn't she adorable? Perfectly mid-century and she was $40!

I think my favorite part is the upholstery...a wonderfully nubby gray chenille that looks brand new.

She is the perfect piece to bring the blank wall in our family room together.

For now, I have her paired with pieces we already owned...our  IKEA rug, and an olive green ottoman {not sure if that will stay}...

And I'm planning a frame collage using a variety of frames and a lot of olive green spray paint...

Here is a little mock-up of what I have planned...

I have a white frame that I want to throw into the mix for a break from all the green. I will probably leave a few empty and fill a few with photos or other fun items.

I'm also looking around for fabric to make a pillow for the chair. This one is at the top of my list right now...

And to finish off this cozy corner, I have a wooden tray for the ottoman that I'm going to makeover. It will serve as a great place to sit a drink and a magazine.

{thrifting finds}

When it comes to thrift shopping for clothing, I'm pretty much a novice. We live in a small town that, until recently, had only a Goodwill with a fairly pitiful selection. Over the past year we've had some great consignment shops open up, and a few months ago I took some of my clothes in to consign. I was really unsure about the process, but figured it was worth a try.

Yesterday I had some free time on my lunch break, so I stopped in to see how much money I had earned, and check out their selection. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had quite a few great items, including a really awesome turquoise handbag that I spotted right away in the front window. I snatched that beauty up without hesitation. :)

After some time in the dressing room with a load of shorts and tops, I ended up buying two tops, one pair of shorts, the awesome turquoise bag, and a pair of cute flats. And with my store credit I only had to pay $13. Not too shabby! I was on a thrifting high for the rest of the day...it was a great experience.

In my excitement over the clothing, I totally forgot to check out their jewelry, so I'm going to have to go back soon for a peek at their selection. I even earned a $3 coupon for my next trip...considering the shoes were only $4 that can buy a lot! :) And I looked the handbag up online...it retails for around $45 and I paid $10. It is in really great condition too...what a deal!

The best thing about thrifting is that there will be a whole new set of treasures next time I go back.

I was lucky enough to get to attend the preview night of the Just Between Friends consignment sale here in Richmond tonight. If you haven't heard of JBF before, it is basically a huge consignment sale with loads of toys, clothing, books, and other miscellaneous items. I didn't expect to come away with much but I ended up finding some great deals for the boys.

This cute little play kitchen was one of the first things I spotted when we walked in...

It was priced at only $10! I almost snagged it up, but we have so many large toys so I left it for another lucky shopper.

Check out the modern white crib on the right...it looked brand new and was only $100!

They had lots of great children's books...

And a glimpse of the looong rack of boys' clothes...

So wanna see what I did pick up? I grabbed four pair of shorts...

A cute Children's Place polo...

A J Crew hoodie and a pair of Cons {these are my favorite purchases}...

And some Dr. Seuss books...

I also picked up a cute khaki Target jacket and The Cat in the Hat on DVD. 

Oh and I did sneak in a candle for myself {these locally made candles are usually $20 and it was only $8!}...

And I only spent about $40 on everything! I can definitely see myself going again next year...and maybe consigning some of the boys' clothes too!
