{hello monday}

Over the weekend Dan and I celebrated our ten year wedding anniversary. To say that we don't see much quality one-on-one time these days is an understatement, as I'm sure most parents can understand.

Now that the boys are in school and Dan is working a part time 2nd shift job, our evenings are full of homework, reading, Dan working, quick meals, and even more laundry than I thought was possible to keep both boys dressed 5 days a week. {Before kindergarten they spent more days than I would care to admit in their pj's.}

By the time the boys are in bed, it is usually 9 pm, we are both exhausted, and we zone out in front of the TV. Sound familiar?

My Etsy shop has also been taking up a lot of time, but that's another story for another day. :)

My point is that we have lost track of each other so much lately, so this past weekend was such good medicine for both of our tired souls.

We ate lots of really good food...

We went to IKEA and Target. What can I say...those things are both of our love languages.

I even talked him into a photo!

AND we bought a new bed at IKEA! I can't wait to share it with you once we get our bedroom a bit more decorated.

We talked more this weekend than I can remember in recent months. About all sorts of things. Deep things. And we didn't have to talk about poop or farts which is the typical conversation these days with two 5 year olds.

Oh it was heavenly.

{BTW...you can fit a queen bed AND a bookshelf in a Prius...just in case you were wondering.}

I'm hoping we don't have to wait 10 more years to have another weekend like that! What did your weekend look like?

Linking up with...

Wild & Precious

{ten years}

Today...

Surely we aren't old enough for this.

A whole decade?

But here it is.

Ten years of being the Mrs. to his Mr.

I have to say that the second half of this decade together has been a bit rougher than the first. Parenthood and everything that goes along with it has tested us to our limits. I think the key is that we haven't given up on each other. We know that despite the bumps in the road we have each other at the end of the day to come back to.

Boy am I proud of this man and what we have.

{tear-filled laughter}

He texted me with a spin off of one of our favorite Seinfeld quotes...

"Feels like an Arby's lunch."

If you aren't familiar with the quote...

And so we had a lunch date.

They have been few and far between since we became parents. Just the two of us enjoying lunch together {even if it is just a roast beef sandwich and curly fries}.

He picked me up from work and off we went.

After we ordered I picked a table right next to two elderly gentlemen. They looked like the kind of guys that frequent that same little table at the same time every day, to chat about all of the news going on in their lives.

Not too long after we sat down to eat, we were sucked into their conversation.

Not because we were being nosy, but because one of them was talking REALLY loudly.

Actually, he seemed to be the only one talking. The other gentleman just threw in a nod and an "uh-huh" every now and again.

None of their conversation was particularly funny, but for some reason, a certain part of it hit both of our funny bones like a home run ball off of a wooden bat {baseball reference for the hubby}.

He was talking about church and something about candle wax... and how he almost got wax all over his brand new sports coat.

"I wouldn't have been a happy camper!" he said.

Well that was IT for us.

I looked over at Dan and he had tears streaming down his face, his shoulders pumping up and down the way they tend to do when a fit of uncontrollable laughter hits.

And then it transferred over to me. The kind of laughter that pushes any negative, crappy thoughts or mood you were experiencing at the time directly out of your body through every possible pore.

Both of our eyes were cloudy with tears.

My napkin had both remnants of ketchup and mascara.

That was some majorly healing laughter, friends. I haven't seen my hubby laugh that hard in I don't know how long. It did my heart SO much good.

And the moody tiredness I entered that Arby's with had completely left my body by the time we headed back out into the parking lot.

I looked over at him and said, "Laughter is good medicine." And it was just what we both needed today.

Here is a little printable I made if you would like to keep this reminder close by...

I hope your day includes some tear-filled laughter friends!

{9 years}

Happy Anniversary today
to the guy that still
makes my heart flutter,
puts a smile on my face,
and joy in my heart.

I can't believe it has almost been a decade...what a crazy ride!

{8}

The hubby and I celebrated 8 years of marriage yesterday by getting out of town for a bit while the boys hung out with their Nana and Papa.

We crossed the border...

I wore my favorite brown corduroy flats and carried a perfect fall bag...

Had some yummy Mexican food...

I tortured him with a photo...

And we ended the day with yummy coffee drinks from Panera for the ride home.

It was a perfect day...lovely weather just like the day we got married. And just for fun, here we are enjoying the dinner at our wedding reception...

We.were.so.young.and.skinny!
