{a day late}

Happy Halloween from The Hulk and the unmasked Batman :)

The weather here in Indiana was pretty icky yesterday, but we managed to trick or treat and have a fun day. The boys had their first school Halloween party so that was fun. They go to preschool at the college where I work, so all of the kids went over to campus and handed out candy to the college students. It was so cute to see everyone's reactions. It took Ben awhile to warm up but then he really got into it...

Landon was being cranky and wouldn't wear his mask...

Toddler drama. ;)

And pretty much all of the trick or treating photos I have look like this...

But that's OK...they have cute back sides.

How was your Halloween?

{DIY Halloween Lanterns}

Last weekend I put together a fun Halloween craft for the boys and my nephew. I was inspired by this project I found through Pinterest over at Decor Hacks...

My supply list:
  • Plain glass mason jars
  • Orange stained glass paint {similar}
  • Painters tape
  • Sticky felt
  • Scissors

I taped off the jars with narrow stripes {I cut the tape strips in half} and then let the boys paint them...

And set them outside to let them dry {this paint dried super fast...even the goopy parts ;) }...

When they were dry I pulled off the tape. The paint I chose wasn't as opaque as I had hoped, and some of it pulled off when we took the tape off the jars, so I would recommend acrylic or a different kind of glass paint.

Then I cut out some simple jack-o-lantern face shapes using sticky backed felt and let the boys pick out the faces they wanted to apply.  We put some votive candles in them and voila!

I love how Ben gave his "eyebrows"...it looks like frankenstein :)

Despite the paint issue they still turned out cute, and the boys had fun making them.

Have you done any fun Halloween projects with your littles? I'd love to see them!

{Halloween recap}

 We had SUCH a fun Halloween with the boys this year. I'm still on a high from it...or is it from all the sugar? Maybe a mix of both. :)

I did a little last minute decorating on Monday afternoon and hung a DIY "trick or treat" banner in the entryway...

{I obviously didn't dust though...shhh}

And a fun tin sign welcomed trick or treaters...

And now for just a couple pics of our two "punkins"...
With Nana and Gigi...

And their Papa...

And our cutie patootie nephew Noah was the cutest scarecrow ever...

Last year we only made it to two houses, so I was hoping this year to improve on that record. Not only did the boys enjoy it, but we made it around our entire neighborhood which is quite a treck...lots of hills...

 And leaf piles to jump in along the way...

Noah got a lift on his momma's shoulders...

And after getting over his fear of the first few houses, Landon was all smiles...
My Mom took a lot more photos that I forgot to copy, so I might be doing a Halloween recap 2.0 post later in the week. Hope your Halloween was fun and sugar filled!

{halloween fun}

We've been having a fun Halloween themed day at our house complete with pumpkin decorating {and un-decorating}, making Halloween cookies {break and bake...don't judge} and watching the Great Pumpkin.

My mother-in-law came over and helped the boys decorate their pumpkins. We cut out lots of different felt shapes and let them go to town. I loved seeing what they came up with...

The pumpkins looked like this for about 10 minutes, then the boys proceeded to rearrange their facial features and relocate them to other areas of the house, like the fireplace doors, the walls, and the bottoms of their socks.

Their Gigi made a cute little ghost banner that we hung over the fireplace...

After dinner we made the easiest ever Halloween cookies. They came pre-made with pumpkins, ghosts and witches on them. Maybe tomorrow we'll make some from scratch. Maybe.

They were SO impatient while they cooked...they kept checking on the oven...

Ben liked them so much he had one for each hand...

Landon contemplating another cookie or a drink of milk...

I think we are definitely ready for Halloween, how about you?

{big boys}

We had quite a milestone weekend at our house.

See this...

And this...

That's right friends...the boys' cribs are history. And after a few sniffles from their momma, I have to say that it is THE cutest thing I have every seen. I know I have shared that we've been toying with the idea for a few months now, and when hubby found two beds at Target on clearance we went for it (and adorable car bedding to boot.)

They sorta kinda love them...

I do have to share that when I went to wash their super cool new bedding, I looked at the tag on the comforters to find the care instructions and saw this...

photo

Seriously Target?! Care to send me a new pair? {just to let everyone know...I washed them in my *GASP* top loading washer and they came out just fine. Imagine that!}

In other milestone news, the boys had their first trick or treat experience on Saturday!

Well, kind of.

The boys were Buzz and Woody {big surprise} and Ben looked so adorable as the sheriff...

photo

Poor Landon had a horrible cold, so we knew he wouldn't be able to go out much, if at all. We managed to get him in at least his Buzz Lightyear shirt and out the door...

photo

He actually ended up being the one that wanted to go to everyone's door, while Ben was scared and stayed with Dad...

Our family...

This looks like an outtake but is actually the best of the bunch :)

We only went to a few houses and then did our own version of trick or treat in the house. The boys had a really fun day and between Mom and Dad, and their grandparents, they received lots of candy and fun treats.

Including chocolate cupcakes which apparently are better when eaten hands-free...

Gotta love a blond with a chocolate goatee!

How was your weekend friends? I would love to see pics of your little ones from Halloween!
