On thing that I wish we could have ready in time for hosting our families for Christmas this year is our kitchen. Sadly, it is still in the same state it was when we moved in...sad speckled laminate counter, tired 60's cabinets, worn out sink and faucet. At least we have the pretty new flooring to walk on, and the counter will be camoflouged with tons of yummy food on Friday.
We plan on painting our cabinets white, replacing the counter with an inexpensive butcher block from IKEA, adding the same farmhouse sink we had in our old kitchen (also from IKEA), and removing the doors from the cabinets on either side of the sink for some open shelving. I can just picture it!
I came across a few kitchen photos on Houzz.com that have me swooning...I can't wait until we can get started on prettying up our kitchen!
I love how open and airy this one is...
And I can never resist drooling over Layla's Lettered Cottage kitchen...
LOVE the pendant lights!
Open shelving and a roomy island...
Sweet details...
The sink! And love the plates over the window...
Great island and counters...
Happy Tuesday friends!

I've thought about a butcher block counter top for when we remodel our kitchen too. It's such an inexpensive alternative. Still have ages to go before that even happens, so we'll see between now and then. My other idea is for fake granite, but I don't know how I feel about a shiny surface and fingerprints. I hope you can get your kitchen fixed how you want it soon.
YES! I love all of those, too...Especially the black cabinets...the one with the pendant lighting...and the delicate lacy window toppers and hardware. Love! <3
